Next-Gen Talent Director
As Next-Gen Talent Director (possibly the best title he’s ever had), Stuart heads up all things curriculum and technology-focused for Code Nation.
Stuart is passionate about providing first-class training to people who want to get into coding. With over 10 years of experience in training and technology, he has a very keen interest in emerging technologies and is an evangelist for using technology to help give people the skills they need to be successful in the digital sector.
He has previously worked with some of the world’s largest organisations while acting as technical consultant for Amaze, a leading global full service digital marketing, technology and commerce consultancy based in Manchester and London whose clients include Lexus, Emirates Airline, Unilever and others, where he led a team of 14.
Getting students job-ready in coding roles
Stuart introduced Amaze Academy, representing a new, innovative approach to technical recruitment by providing participants with intensive project-led training designed to get them job-ready in coding. The Academy was a response to the huge digital skills gap faced by the country and presented people with a viable route into technical employment.
Prior to joining Amaze, Stuart was a computer science lecturer, focusing on mobile and web application development and curriculum design. With a background encompassing both education and commerce, he is focused on ensuring people get the skills they need to get the job they want.
Known as the group’s “super geek” (thanks to Andy), you can usually find Stuart either coding, creating fiendish coding challenges for our students or playing classic Doom (or checking out the source code for it over on Id Software’s GitHub.) He is currently working on a new iPhone app, written in Swift, Apple’s latest programming language, that he says will bring harmony to everyone’s home and office, but it’s a secret to everybody* until November.
*Stuart said if you got that reference, you should get in touch with him because you two definitely need to talk.
