Karen has a key role at Code Nation as she leads the Master: Coding and Develop: Cyber courses, and also helps develop the curriculum for them.
Having worked in a variety of educational institutions, from secondary schools to universities, Karen brings a strong passion for technology and developing new talent to Code Nation. After recognising the shortage of technical skills within the industry, she’s determined to help improve the prospects on offer for both employers and students.
Karen started her professional life as an analytical chemist, a position that she worked in for four years. She then moved on to study for a PhD in artificial intelligence. Before this, Karen worked in a secondary school as a Head of Department for Computing and ICT, and as Programme Leader for Digital and Technology Apprenticeships and Plymouth University.
When’s she not at Code Nation, Karen enjoys dance, learning Japanese, and playing the ukulele.
