Chris’s focus is growing Code Nation’s pool of Pledgers. This is our community of businesses who have pledged to interview apprenticeship students at the end of the 12-week Master Course. By increasing their numbers, Chris strengthens the pathway for learners to progress as Junior Developers and provides a fantastic resource for businesses to recruit future tech talent. Everyone’s a winner!
Chris has an HND in sport development, a Level 5 NVQ in leadership and management, the Prince 2 project management qualification and a Level 4 qualification in digital marketing. His first job was teaching sports within primary schools for the local authority and his career quickly developed from there. Soon enough he was responsible for a large team delivering sports provision across an entire borough.
Throughout his career, Chris has always been drawn to roles and volunteer projects where he’s helping people develop and achieve their full potential. He has more than 20 years of experience in the public and private sector, and has worked with huge organisations and local and national projects including, The National Lottery, Sport England, Comic Relief, British Airways, Sainsbury’s and the BBC.
He’s keenly aware that technology is a vital part of everyday life and understands that the speed technology is moving at is creating a massive skill shortage. He sees Code Nation as the perfect platform to change this and get people from all walks of life on the path to their perfect career in Industry 4.0.
A keen volunteer, Chris has helped with a start up charity heading up the sports and arts provision, and as part of the role he managed a team of 20 supporting over 1000 young people every week on a range of sports, arts and community projects. During the role he developed key relationships and supported a number of successful projects, bringing in excess of £500k.
He even got to meet the Queen!
Now a Dad, Chris’s time is currently filled with entertaining, cleaning and generally feeding a growing 11 month old boy. He’s a big football fan, but is more of a spectator now after a few knee ops put paid to his playing days. He also loves his cars and has recently progressed to flying planes.
