As Co-founder and Chair of Code Nation, David helps drive the company forward. He works with current and potential business pledgers and students, and makes sure we have the partner agreements in place that will allow us to expand across the UK and beyond.
Before setting up Code Nation, David was a partner at PwC and KPMG. He’s collaborated with the SEC and FCA and worked on the rapid expansion and globalisation of a number of tech companies in the 2000s. More recently, he’s focused on the North of England and has helped a number of businesses in heavily regulated environments grow.
These experiences allow him to bring an in-depth understanding of the customer mindset to his leadership of Code Nation and he’s driven to remove points of friction from everything he does.
David believes in Jeff Bezos’s approach to innovation. When asked about the success of Amazon and what’s going to change in the next 10 years, Bezos said: “I almost never get the question: ‘What’s NOT going to change in the next 10 years?’… That is actually more important – because you can build a business strategy around the things that are stable in time.”
Alongside Andy, David’s built Code Nation around this insight. We focus on the things that won’t change, such as the importance of employability, accessibility, learner experience and personalised education. These are ever-presents that will always matter to both students and businesses, and by focusing on them, we can ensure we’re always producing employing talent.
A proud resident of Chester, David can be found in and around our campus in the city. When he’s not hard at work bridging the digital skills gap, he’s on his bike and raising money for charity.
