We’re delighted to announce that we’re growing again!

We couldn’t be happier with our growth, even more so during the current worldwide situation.

With campuses already set up in Manchester, Chester, Cambridge and now the City of Bristol College, it says a lot about the hard work and effort put in by all the team here at Code Nation and our students.

The new City of Bristol College campus is a sleek, state-of-the-art space, providing the perfect environment for our students to learn to code when the lockdown is lifted – we can’t wait!

And even with the current circumstances, we still have the ability to run our courses for Bristol’s students in the next few weeks all thanks to our virtual learning environment. We’ll be introducing our free 1-day coding course and our 3-week ‘Develop: Coding’ course that’s funded by the Adult Education Budget.

Paul Rogers, City of Bristol College’s Head of Business Partnerships said: “The College welcomes the opportunity to work in partnership with Code Nation in the rapidly growing Bristol tech community. It will enable the college to continue to raise the aspirations for all learners with higher level, well-paid apprenticeship opportunities.

“The partnership will create an innovative way of establishing a long-term career pathway in one of the areas that is guaranteed to show huge growth for new talent. Bristol will be at the forefront of digital activity with many global brands establishing a base here, so whether you are starting your career or looking for a career change – becoming a software developer could be just the answer.”

Our Founder, Andy Lord added: “We’ve always had the South West on our radar and we’re delighted to have partnered with the City of Bristol College to create a space to train the region’s next generation of digital talent. Bristol sees more and more individuals moving here to find work with their impressive digital employers – as well as being home to two billion-dollar tech firms.”

Why did we choose Bristol?

Good question and one that’s easy to answer – it’s a city that’s really going places!

When we look for new locations to create employable talent in, we lookout for cities with big ambitions, just like our original city, Manchester.

Anywhere that’s home to tech enthusiasts willing to learn and exciting companies aiming to expand, you can guarantee that we’re interested in setting up there.

Bristol is more than just one great city; the region itself received the third-most investment of all UK cities, behind Manchester and London! Now they are growing even more in technology and digital with over 30,000 digital jobs created and over £8bn digital turnover last year.

Among these companies are Hewlett Packard, EE, and Just Eat, a growing tech community with meetups like Techspark and Venturefest, and leading digital gaming company SG Digital, who are already creating their new software developers through our immerse apprenticeship programme.

Sounds good right? What’s even more exciting is that Bristol is leading the way in the development of robotics and autonomous vehicles (the future of technology!).

Bristol is also a dear home to two tech unicorns; tech-enabled energy provider ‘OVO’, who need software engineers to develop their proprietary technology platform, as well as artificial intelligence (AI) specialists ‘Graphcore’, using machine learning to help innovators achieve their breakthroughs.

With all this going for it, Bristol is the perfect new home for us to continue our mission in closing the widening digital skills gap. Plus, as we have done for our 200 strong network of businesses, we can help the businesses in Bristol continue to thrive while empowering tech enthusiasts to learn new skills and get their careers in coding to a flying start.
